There is one simple thing that has been medically proven to improve the immune system and increase your positive brain chemistry. That one simple thing is-smiling.

The benefits of smiling include, but, are not limited to the following.

• Attraction factor: We are drawn to people who smile. Frowns, scowls and grimacing push people away.

• Changes your mood: Dale L. Anderson, MD, author, Smile, Laugh, Connect: The Key to Increased Morale states that endorphin levels are raised through a range of activities-laughing, smiling, eating exercising, cheering, singing, listening to music, creative visualizing, camaraderie and romance.

• Is contagious: Smiling can lighten up the room, change the mood of others, people feel happier around people who smile. A smiling person brings happiness with them.

• Relieves stress: Smiling prevents us from looking tired, worn down or overwhelmed. When you feel stressed, put a smile on your face and notice that your mood changes. When stress is reduced you feel better.

• Boosts the immune system: When you smile, your immune function is more relaxed, thus, creating more effective functioning. Smiling changes your perspective and sends positive chemicals throughout your body.

• Lowers your blood pressure: Smiling is associated with well-being. Thus, when you smile there is a measurable reduction in blood pressure.

• Releases Endorphins, natural Pain Killers and Serotonin: Together these three chemicals induce feeling good. Smiling is a natural drug.

• Lifts the Face: Creates a youthful look. Smiling through out the day is better than a face lift and less expensive.

• Leaves an impression of success: People who smile appear more confident, are more likely to be promoted, and are more likely to be approached. Smile at meetings and appointments. People will react to you more positively.

• Brings positive reactions: Think of something negative while smiling. It is difficult to think of negative things while smiling. Ward off stress and worry by smiling.

When your mouth is turned up or your mouth is turned down, so goes your day. Pause now. Decide to make this moment a great one-smile. Then, make the next and the next moment a great one until you have a great day.
