I am basking in 'The Power of God's Love' and trying very hard not to be distracted or dejected.  Your timely encouragement works wonders for me. Sometimes things can go right only by first going very wrong and at times like this it can be hard to focus on the positive, but we must do it… Mary, our worst days are never so bad that we are beyond the reach of God’s grace. And our best days are never so good that we are beyond the need of God’s grace. Whether it’s the best of times or the worst of times, it’s the only time we’ve got. Speaking as another anxious mama, I know I'm often doing one thing, and worrying about another future thing. I don't pay enough attention to the current item, and quite often the future thing I worried about either doesn't happen, or was so totally out of my control that it wouldn't have mattered how much I worried anyway! Reply #20 - Jun 14th, 2008, 11:27pm   Hi Ladies!   Inner peace has nothing to do with the absence of stress, tragedy and pain; it has everything to do with Whom we trust, as illustrated in the following story: An art contest was advertised. The theme of the contest was "Peace", and a prize would be awarded to the artist who most effectively depicted peace. The day for the entries to be judged arrived, and the various paintings were displayed in a gallery. Typical scenes portrayed by the artists included ducks floating serenely on a quiet pond; palm trees blowing gently in the ocean breeze; moonlight reflecting off a tranquil mountain lake. One painting stood out in stark contrast to the others. At first glance, it seemed anything but peaceful. A violent storm raged over the dark and dreary scene. Trees were bent by a blustering wind. Giant waves threatened to flood a riverbank. In the midst of the chaos was an oak tree. Cradled under its branches was a nest; there, protected under the body of their mother, three baby robins slept peacefully, oblivious to the storm that raged around them. It was this painting that won the prize. You also can know the security that enabled these baby robins to rest peacefully in the midst of a violent storm. Make God your refuge - and He will empower you to walk through any storm and remain strong, peaceful and secure. He won't always change your situation, but He will change how you respond to it. May your troubles be less, your blessings more... and may nothing but HAPPINESS come through your door! Reply #26 - Oct 24th, 2008, 8:33pm   Open the Rose A young, new preacher was walking with an older, more seasoned preacher in the garden one day and feeling a bit insecure about what God had for him to do, he was inquiring of the older preacher. The older preacher walked up to a rosebush and handed the young preacher a rosebud and told him to open it without tearing off any petals. The young preacher looked in disbelief at the older preacher and was trying to figure out what a rosebud could possibly have to do with his wanting to know the WILL OF GOD for his life and for his ministry. Because of his high respect for the older preacher, he proceeded to TRY to unfold the rose, while keeping every petal intact...It wasn't long before he realized how it was impossible to do so. Noticing the younger preacher's inability to unfold the rosebud while keeping it intact, the older preacher began to tell the following poem... It is only a tiny rosebud, A flower of GOD's design; But I cannot unfold the petals With these clumsy hands of mine. The secret of unfolding flowers Is not known to such as I. GOD opens this flower so sweetly, When in my hands they fade and die. If I cannot unfold a rosebud, This flower of GOD's design, Then how can I think I have wisdom To unfold this life of mine? So I'll trust in Him for His leading Each moment of every day. I will look to Him for His guidance Each step of the pilgrim way. The pathway that lies before me, Only my heavenly Father knows. 'I am a Christian' I'm not shouting 'I'm clean living,' I'm whispering 'I was lost, Now I'm found and forgiven.' When I say... 'I am a Christian' I don't speak of this with pride. I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide. When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not trying to be strong. I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on. When I say. 'I am a Christian' I'm not bragging of success. I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess. When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not claiming to be perfect, My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it. When I say... 'I am a Christian' I still feel the sting of pain... How are you, my angel ?  I've been on and off these boards myself too.  Just not motivated enough without your precious 'pearls of wisdom'.  Now that you're back, here I am to say 'welcome back, sweet angel' ! Life is great these days.  I've learnt to live one day at a time.  With dignity and with the Lord's Grace.   The poem by Maya Angelou is awesome and so is the lady.  She makes us women proud !   Bye for now, sweet Angel.  Hope you've been well and safe.  I whisper a little prayer for you whenever I have my highs and lows in life.  You set my feet on the right path and for that I will always be grateful to God for putting you there in my life.  Take care.
