Maintain Your Sanity

by Jane Powell on March 11, 2010

“Complement your busy life with movement.”

Day after day, you balance the demands of your professional and personal lives, like working, personal relationships and home life, just to name a few. With all these priorities, your body gets neglected and exercise becomes just another chore.

But exercise is just what you need to keep your sanity. After exercise, you feel better, sleep better and become more energetic. Not only is your body healthier, but your mind becomes healthier, too.

If you think that there is absolutely no time for exercise, then find small ways to sneak it into your day. Start by walking up the stairs rather than taking the elevator. Or, take your tennis shoes to work and use your lunch break to walk with a friend. Even brief breaks to the water-cooler count.

You deserve to take care of yourself. You need it, your body needs it and your mind needs it. So, make a move, today!

“Commitment is a way of life.”
The ultimate commitment is the one you make to yourself.
Today, make the commitment to yourself to take full responsibility for your life and to make the most of it.
Remember time waits for no one. The choices you make and the actions you take, today, determine your tomorrows.
Say farewell forever to [...]

Follow These Stepping Stones to Success

March 9, 2010

“Find the lessons within your failures.”
It’s unrealistic to expect to have success in meaningful things you do and not have failures along the way. It’s the way of life.
Instead of fighting it or feeling ashamed or guilty, accept this with grace. Look for the lessons to be learned – lessons not to be repeated and [...]

Cure Negativity

“Clean out your mental closet.”
Remember when you last cleaned out your clothes closet? It was tough at first, but afterward you felt great. You got rid of those impulse buys that never worked and retired those too-tight jeans that you knew you would never fit into again. Remember how you felt? No guilt or regret [...]

Tried & True Formula for Achieving Goals

March 7, 2010

“Do you set goals then fail to achieve them?”
Too many failed attempts may lead to frustration. Eventually, you either stop setting goals or surrender to the failures that overcome you. Overtime, avoiding disappointment becomes easier than setting new goals, altogether. Your heart wonders, what’s the use in trying?
Let your next goal be different. Before you [...]

“Touch hearts with your intangible gifts.”
One of the most treasured gifts of women is the ability to give, without expecting something is return. Such unconditional gifts of the heart, like encouragement, hope, love, a kind word and appreciation, fall into this category.
The glow you get inside when you share these gifts is comparable to nothing [...]

“Adventures, especially into new territory, are scary.”
Are you anxious about a new job, a new responsibility, a house move or some other life-changing event? Relax! New adventures make everyone nervous. When you reach beyond your comfort zone, away from what’s familiar and comfortable, anxious feelings are inevitable.
At such times, remember, fear is connected with joy.
We [...]

Tap into This Hidden Opportunity

March 4, 2010

“Teachers are all around you.”
We often make the mistake of thinking super-achievers are the only people who can teach us anything. We forget about the single mom next door, who can teach us perseverance; the old man walking slowly in front of us, who can teach us patience; the child playing in the mud, who [...]

Increase Your Self-Respect

“Assertiveness is a matter of self-respect.”
When you trust your assertiveness, you have the ability to express yourself and the ability to communicate your feelings, wants and needs. You are less dependent on others and more in control of your own life.
When you assert yourself, you make your own choices. You make room for your confidence [...]

Stop Annoying Thoughts

March 2, 2010
Thumbnail image for Stop Annoying Thoughts

“Free yourself from anxiety by chasing away the ‘What-if’s?’”
“What-if?” So many negative thoughts start with these two words. “What if I’m late for work?” “What if I don’t lose weight?” “What if I don’t go to my friends for dinner because I’m too tired?” What if…what if…what…if!
Each anxious thought leads to another anxious thought, and [...]
