End the Fight with Distractions

by Jane Powell on September 3, 2010

“Life is full of distractions.”

Does it seem like something or someone is always trying to steer you off track? You have a point of focus, an objective, or destination, then something comes along that captures your attention and points you in an entirely different direction.

Of course a certain amount of distraction can’t be avoided. The good news is there is something you can do to deal with these diversions and get back to being productive. The best solution is to simply accept them as inevitable, give them the attention they deserve, and then get back to the task at hand as quickly as possible.

Don’t let distractions upset you or derail your best intentions.  Remember that an emotional reaction is likely to cost you far more time and energy than the distraction itself.

Bounce Back from Tough Times

September 2, 2010

“A lesson from the lawn.”
Imagine if a blade of grass decided it had had enough. It was done with having its head snipped off every weekend and its seeds – its future – cut off in their prime. Who could blame it?
Yet, what does that ol’ blade of grass do? It doesn’t say:  “I give [...]

September 1, 2010

“How beautiful do you think you are?”
When you look in the mirror what do you see?
Do you look only at flaws? Your big nose, your double chin or perhaps your not so perfect skin?
Every woman has her own self-proclaimed list of flaws. We’re all guilty.
Did  you know the more you focus on your flaws the [...]

“Enthusiasm is where the fun is.”
When enthusiasm strikes, you know because you want to jump up and down and scream with happiness. It’s a moment where your heart soars because you have just felt or done something that inspires you deep within.

Are you chasing happiness?

August 30, 2010
Thumbnail image for Are you chasing happiness?

“Happiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want.”
At first glance this sounds like the same thing, take a closer look, it’s not.
If you’re completely fulfilled by spending time with your friends and family because you really want to be with them then you truly want what you have.
On the flip side, if [...]

August 28, 2010
Thumbnail image for Where Happiness REALLY Comes From

“Happiness is abundant in the joy of achievement.”
Happiness doesn’t come from successfully completing simple or mundane tasks, it comes from completing a task that demands your best efforts.
When you pour your heart and soul into something and you accomplish that something, the afterglow of satisfaction you feel is happiness. It is the thrill of all [...]

“Mistakes are opportunities.”
Making mistakes are an integral part of living, learning and growing as a human being. We all make mistakes!
The question is, what do you do after the blunder? As a child, if you were made to feel like a failure, you most likely feel inadequate and often give up. If you were told [...]
