Get Rid of Procrastination Once and For All

by Jane Powell on November 6, 2009

“Finish what you begin.”

When you make a heart-felt decision to finish something meaningful and, then, do it, something amazing happens. You feel energized and all the worry and fear that you felt in the beginning miraculously disappears.

Your mind is free! You no longer feel guilty. The burden is gone and you don’t beat yourself up for avoiding what needed to be done.

In the end, when you finish what you begin, you’re naturally motivated to do more. So, if you feel like quitting, keep in mind that wonderful feelings are waiting at the end of every meaningful task.

Just for you!

But the accomplishment is WITHIN. That is the glow you get to enjoy. Nothing can take that away from you. Not time, not another task, no future event. It is the reward of your own self discipline and mastery. That is the INNER accomplishment and it is the true goal which many people miss trying to be so task-oriented. The richness of yourself is to be basked in.

I feel like as fast as I finish something on the top of the list, two more things are added to the bottom of the list! A job done is a good feeling-just wish I had more time to bask in the glow of the accomplishment!

This is SO what I needed to hear. I am studying chinese medicine, and I love it! But it is not easy and a very tall study order. I ask myself why I procrastinate on studying something I love? Is it intimidation of the towering mass of information? Is it the “no-days-off” schedule that drains? When if I used all that time pondering to study and complete work,…..I would have some hours to play and feel fulfilled. This meditation is so appropiate today as I ready myself for a midterm I have later. I will now shut off the computer and go to my desk :) Thanks!

I try to make my word to myself the focus…rather than the act to accomplish. Because the source of much of my procratination was that I gave myself permission to lie to myself as to the reason I didn’t DO what I said I would. Now, with incredible results, I don’t say I will DO something unless I am able to FEEL the strength of my promise to MYSELF. No one else…no outward results I am looking for BUT an inward TRUTH to pursue. WOW! I hit the jackpot…134 lbs of weight lost, found joy in my life…hidden until I became grateful for ME! A treasure in an earthen vessel….Janis

Kasey – this is something both of us can relate to – maybe we can encourage one another to try and kick the procrastination habit! Love, Mom
