“Have you reached your destination?”
Many of us grow up not knowing what we want to do with our lives. It can take years to figure it out, and some never do. Many women change jobs, careers and husbands, searching for their purpose and destination.
To achieve success in finding your way, soul-searching is a necessity. Have an honest conversation with yourself and answer a very tough question. “Who am I?” Think about your strengths, your weaknesses and most importantly your passions.
It may take a day, a week or a month but, when you answer this question, your personal destination becomes clear.
Your direction will not fall in your lap, so don’t waste another moment – create an inner compass and find it yourself.

Read ‘The Power of Now’ or ‘A New Earth’, Tolle discusses this exact phrase “who am I” and there are people who actually meditate on this phrase “who am I”.

“The answer is, who you are cannot be defined through thinking or mental labels or definitions, because it’s beyond that. It is the very sense of being, or presence, that is there when you become conscious of the present moment. In essence, you and what we call the present moment are, at the deepest level, one. You are the consciousness out of which everything comes; every thought comes out of that consciousness, and every thought disappears back into it. You are a conscious, aware space, and all your sense perceptions, thinking, and emotions come and go in that aware space.”
In other words, the more you remain in the present moment, the more you discover who you really are. Be present.
Someone was asking about how to find oneself.
I found the following books helpful:
” The Artist’s Way” By julia cameron – you don’t have to be an artist / or wannabe artist to find value in it, it has exercises to help you uncover aspects of yourself.
“Seven Habits of highly Successful people” by Stephen Covey – the sections on your different roles and missions, and how to make goals to get there.
Also while the following are career focused, the exercises also can be used for your own personal benefit for your life outside of work.
“What color is your parachute” each year has a new edition, recommend getting the newer ones, has some good exercises on thinking of your work +work environment.
“Do What You Are: Discover the Perfect Career for You Through the Secrets of Personality Type” by Paul D. Tieger and Barbara Barron
“Getting Unstuck: A Guide to Discovering Your Next Career Path by Timothy Butler”
Does anyone have advice on what it takes to really carve out the time and sit and ‘find oneself’? Isn’t it more of a flowing process through life? I’ve found some series of questions to ask oneself that include what one typically reads in the newspapers/magazines to help guide me to who I am, but still sometimes feel lost.
Our lives are intertwined by our emotional reactions to our life style and surroundings. If we’re not following our passions in life; it’s up to us to make the necessary changes to become more empowered.
Thank you so Much for these word today..Many of us go through life unhappy because we are not doing what we are meant to do, but doing what we think we are supposed to do..tap into who you are and you wil find fullfillment.. I did and it worked for me..
This is a wonderful question to ponder, explore, and make a work in progress. It may stump you at first when you do a writing exercise to contemplate the answer. I have been studying this question for about 5-6 years now. During that time I came across a book at my local library Who am I?: an autobiography of emotion, mind, and spirit By Yi-fu Tuan. This book truly helped me in identifying several aspects of my thesis. Take a look at the book. It may help you map out the question to find out your own personal “Who am I” answer.

Today’s meditation reminded me of the discerning i did several years ago.
thank you for affirming the need for soul-searching to determine one’s purpose — that what i did and constantly do to re-examine myself is valid.
